Lanre Bakare writes for the Guardian, where his work focuses on the intersection of art, race and culture across multiple disciplines. His debut non-fiction book We Were There was published by The Bodley Head in 2025 and was chosen as a book of the year by GQ, Esquire and The Observer. He is currently working on his second book and is part of the judging panel for the Gordon Burn Prize 2027.
